Godó Prize for Investigative Journalism

Prisma Prize to the best popular science book published in Spain

On el dia dorm amb els ulls oberts (Where the Day sleeps with open Eyes) reconstructs the journey made by young scientific journalist Toni Pou to the Canadian Arctic. Embarking the Amundsen, he participates in the investigation carried about by the boat’s state of the art scientific installations. Somewhere between travel book, scientific investigation and personal chronicle, he tells the story of the people aboard the boat, and their day to day existence in such strange surroundings. In a fresh simple account full of intimate anecdotes, Toni Pou shows us not only the peculiarities of the Arctic but also many of the characteristics of science in general.

Intelligent, sensitive and very well written, On el dia dorm amb els ulls oberts is a tiny jewel that transports you to a far-away world evoking images of the epic polar expeditions of the 19th century.
